In Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, which was formed by Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council, we have invited Roxie Jerde, President and CEO of CFSC to be our featured Charity representative. Roxie will be introduced by J. Ronald Skipper who will share the history of our Council, leading up to the formation of The Foundation.

In 1979, seeing a need for a professional, dedicated organization to manage the charitable gifts provided by its clients, the board of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council sponsored the formation of a community foundation for all of Sarasota County.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County exists to enhance the community, meeting and identifying on-going needs through strategic philanthropy. With oversight of permanent charitable endowment funds, the Community Foundation is able to invest in areas that support or meet a private donor’s intentions, whether that be in the arts, human services, health, education, the environment, or other areas of concern.

Roxie Jerde is the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.

Roxie moved to Sarasota in 2011 from Kansas City, where she served as Senior Vice President for Donor Relations and Education at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, one of the largest community foundations in the nation and widely regarded as a thought leader in philanthropy. In this role, she spearheaded many innovative initiatives, including the development and implementation of the DonorEdge, an online tool that enables donors to evaluate their philanthropic choice.

An avid bicyclist with her husband, Mike, Roxie enjoys exploring Sarasota’s beautiful roads and trails. In her spare time, Roxie enjoys yoga and reading. The Jerdes make their home in south Sarasota.
